Arrowhead Hosts the Sixth Annual Fundraiser for Local Veterans

Friday, May 16 is the sixth annual Arrowhead fundraiser of Guitars for Vets and Dry Hootch. These two local organizations help veterans in the Hartland area who suffer from post traumatic stress disorder.  This event is being held at Arrowhead High School’s North Campus Commons and Theaters and sponsored by Arrowhead’s Warhawk Interact Club and International Student Club.

Each ticket is $5.00, with all proceeds going to Guitars for Vets and Dry Hootch.  The fundraiser consists of a Silent Auction, the Mr. Arrowhead Pageant, and live music.

The silent auction starts at 6:30pm.  The two main guitar pieces being auctioned off are an Alvarez RD26 acoustic guitar and case, which are donated by Hartland Music, and Gibson Epiphone Dove, donated by Cream City Music.  Other smaller prizes auctioned are one month guitar lessons with Larry McDonald and voice lessons with Maddie Olsen.

The Mr. Arrowhead Pageant starts at 7:00pm, and consists of eight senior boys participating in a beauty type pageant.  Throughout the show, the boys will dress in different costumes, demonstrate a talent, and participate in an interviewing section.  Whoever raises the most money will be named Mr. Arrowhead.

Teaghen Ploetz, the co-announcer of the Mr. Arrowhead Pageant, says, “This is a really good cause being supported in a good way.  I am happy I get to participate in the fundraiser and hopefully a lot of people come to support it.”

Lastly, live music will be played throughout the event.  Some of the performances will include Arrowhead alumni, such as Engligh teacher Liz Munkwitz, and 2006 graduates Maddie Olson and Max Kurkiewicz.
