Review of Arrowhead Varsity Baseball’s First Week

This week Arrowhead Baseball kicked off its season with two games on Monday, April 8th and Tuesday, April 9th. 

 

On Monday, April 8th, Arrowhead played New Berlin Eisenhower at O’Driscoll Field located on Arrowhead Union High School’s Campus at 4:30 p.m.

 

Arrowhead was the first to score when junior PJ Hamel doubled, scoring one run. After a wild pitch that resulted in another run, senior Josh Gilroy hit a single, extending the lead to 3-1. 

 

Senior Jacob Lorbecki singled, senior Carter Scott hit into a fielder’s choice, and senior Matthew Ortin doubled, each scoring one run.

 

The Warhawks combined for 11 hits and seven runs that propelled them to a 7-3 victory. Senior Nolan Buss pitched two innings followed by junior Graiden Liethen who pitched three innings and sophomore Cameron Carter finished the game pitching two innings. 

 

Pitcher for the New Berlin Eisenhower Lions, Ryan Rajala pitched three innings, giving up four runs on six hits. 

 

On Tuesday, April 9th, Arrowhead played Milwaukee King at Henry “Hank” Aaron Field  in Glendale at 5:00 p.m.  

 

The Warhawks combined for a total of 12 hits and 11 runs that secured a victory over the Milwaukee King Generals. Senior Brayden Ramus pitched four innings and the game was closed by junior Tanner Buhlmann. 

 

Beck opened the scoring for Arrowhead when he doubled in the first inning, scoring two runs. A single by Carter, a ground out by Hamel, and a line out by Beck assisted Arrowhead in extending their lead. 

 

Jacek Gutowski, pitcher for the Milwaukee King Generals, took the loss allowing six runs on six hits. Buhlmann threw three innings without a hit, striking out seven batters and walking two. 

 

Arrowhead Varsity Baseball’s next game is on Friday, April 12th at O’Driscoll Field at 4:30 p.m.
