Hartland Plans for the Fourth of July

According to the Hartland Chamber of Commerce website, Hartland has planned it’s local Hometown Celebration to take place on June 30th, July 1st and July 2nd at Nixon Park.

“On July 4th, 1776 the thirteen colonies claimed their independence from England,” says Miltary.com “an event which eventually led to the formation of the United States. Each year on July 4th, also known as Independence Day, Americans celebrate this historic event.”

According to the Hartland Chamber of Commerce website, the first day of Hartland’s celebrations begin on Friday June 30th. Admission for the event is free, for all ages, according to the Lake Country Family Fun website. Arts and crafts vendors will be set up at Nixon Park, located at 175 E. Park Avenue, from 4pm-8:45pm. Happy hour will be from 5 pm – 7pm and the Hartland community band will perform from 6:30 pm – 8 pm. Live music by Andrea and the Mods will be performed from 8:30 pm to 11 pm while the firework display is set for 9:30 pm.

Admission and location for the festivities on July 1st remain the same, according to the Lake Country Family Fun website. The first event for the day includes the 5K Family Fun Run/Walk at 8:30 am. Bounce houses will be set up around the park from 9 am to 1 pm, arts and crafts vendors will be set up around the park from 9 am to 2 pm, and a family friendly obstacle course will be running from noon until 2 pm. Families interested in the History Walk should meet at the Hartland Public Library at 10 am and should expect to walk until around noon. Participants in the pie baking contest can start dropping off their pies around 11 am, however, judging does not begin until 12:15. Lisa Edgar and the Razzmatazz will perform from noon until 2 pm. History exhibits, old fashioned games, and the popcorn & ice cream social will all take place from noon to 2 pm as well. The popcorn & ice cream social will be hosted by the Hartland Fire Department. Locals can stop by and check out the department’s 1938 Ford Darley Pumper.

On July 2nd, according to the Lake Country Family Fun Website, the local parade will be held at 1:30 pm. The parade will start at Hartbrook Mall, lead down Merton Avenue to E. Capitol Drive, continue to Cottonwood Avenue, and end at Nixon Park.

“I like how the floats are decorated,” says local Arrowhead senior Emily Restock, “it’s cool to see the families all together collecting candy and hanging out.”

The Hartland Chamber of Commerce has planned many activities for the Hartland Hometown celebration. How can locals prepare for the many festivities?

According to the weather channel, the highs over the weekend will be an average of 76 degrees while the lows are expected to be around 56 degrees. There is an 80% chance of rain on Friday June 30th, but there is under a 40% chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.
