Roster Changes on Allegiance

Veneau fights three members of Luminosity

On Halloween, jungler of Allegiance Kurt Shray (other wise known as Weak3n) posted a video to his YouTube channel titled “ALG Roster changes/team changes 🙁 – Transparency – Smite.” In it, he explains that the three core members (MLCst3alth, himself and Incon) of Allegiance all agreed that their odds of making it to Worlds were dim. They tried to talk out a solution trying to find some people to replace Cope (Solo) and Veneau (ADC) but couldn’t come to a definite solution. Weak3n ran into troubles with recruiting, however, as many were unwilling to play with Incon. Weak3n spoke with the company of Allegiance, and the end result was Cope, Veneau and team captain Incon were all kicked from the roster.

Incon team captain and support for Allegiance released his own video (also on YouTube) on the subject the next day titled “Kicked from Team Allegiance.” In it, he explains his own point of view. Incon says he feels betrayed by Weak3n because of their history together. They played together on Team EnVyUs (the first team Incon put together) for a while before.

As Weak3n put it in his own video, “I stabbed him in the back” and got him kicked off the team. Not long after Weak3n was kicked from EnVyUs as well and was looking for a new team. By this time Incon had formed a new team and was looking for a jungler. Incon decided to take him on the team despite the protests of the rest of the team. As Incon put it “I stuck my neck out for him.”

Later, this team was picked up by Allegiance, and they became the fourth seed in the fall split. When Incon confronted Weak3n about getting him cut from Allegiance he stated “Obviously I can’t trust you anymore. Obviously we can’t be friends anymore.”

Cutting their rookies makes sense because their poor performance was likely the reason why Allegiance didn’t make it to Super Regionals with Cope feeding most games and Veneau dropping kills.

Cutting Incon from the team was a controversial choice among fans. Incon is known for having Tourette syndrom which causes frequent muscle spasms, which he embraces calling his streams the “Twitchiest stream on Twitch.” Despite him embracing it, his condition has caused him some challenge in Smite.

Every few seconds, his eyes involuntarily shut which can make it difficult to compete when you lose track of what’s happening every few seconds. This being said, he’s regarded as one of the better support players to have played the game.

Incon stated in his video that he would make another team, and be back with a new team for season four of Smite. He didn’t say who would be on his team, but in all likelihood he will keep Cope and Veneau and find others to play jungle and mid. This new team will likely be a force to be reckoned with. Cope despite not being great showed great improvement throughout the season. And the dual lane with Incon and Veneau will likely be really good, because they have previous competitive experience with each other. Incon’s aggressive support support style with an ADC that has good synergy with him will be enough to strike fear into the hearts of any dual lane. But this is just speculation.

MLCst3alth says in a TwitLonger post that the reason for the change was because they needed teammates with the same desire to win as him and Weak3n. He believed that Allegiance had hit a ceiling because Incon, Cope and Veneau didn’t practice outside scrims. He says that the same mistakes were being made week after week, so he could either accept it or try to make something change. Which he and Weak3n did.

As for the future of Allegiance, right now they only have Weak3n and MLCst3alth when they need at least five players. There are rumors that Aleksandr “Oceans” Brudnyi (ADC), Mike “PolarBearMike Heiss and Jarod “CycloneSpin” Nguyen (who all play for EnVyUs) are join Allegiance. No one seems to know what this means for Team EnVyUs though.
