Arrowhead Senior Lauren Peterson commited to play basketball at UW Oshkosh for the 2014-2015 season.

Lauren Peterson, a senior on the Arrowhead girl’s varsity basketball team, recently committed to play basketball at UW Oshkosh. She committed to play D3 basketball for Coach Brad Fisher starting in the 2014 season.

Peterson had looks from Roosevelt and Parkside, but on Monday, January 27th,  she decided to commit to play at Oshkosh.

Peterson said, “While making my decision, there were a lot of traits I had to put into consideration. I had to organize the priorities I wanted in a school. It wasn’t easy. “

Peterson also said, “I choose to go to Oshkosh because I like the size and I get along with the coach really well. I know that the program is going to do great things.”

Peterson started talking to the Oshkosh coaches not too much longer after her senior AAU season, which ended in mid August.

Peterson said, “When I went on my visit in mid October, I talked with the coaches a lot, met the girls and saw all of the facilities. I really enjoyed it.”

Peterson says she is nervous for the college in general. But she also said she is not very nervous about juggling basketball and school because she has been doing it her entire life.

The biggest influences in Peterson’s decision, she says, were her parents and her AAU coach.

Peterson said, “I value my parents opinion very much and I have always looked up to my AAU coach. Without them it would have been very hard to make a good decision for me.”

Peterson said that for the most part she has always wanted to play college basketball. Basketball is a big part of her life and takes up a great deal of her time, she says, and she couldn’t imagine going four full years without playing it.

Peterson also said, “Although making the college decision was not easy, I am very happy with my decision and I can’t wait to start playing for Coach Fisher at Oshkosh.”
