Arrowhead’s Expressive Students

In this world of over seven billion people, teenagers are finding away to make themselves stand out. Whether it’s a genre of music you listen to, piercings, or even tattoos. Arrowhead is a school full of diverse and expressive students.

Alyona Guns is a sophomore at Arrowhead who has decorated her ears with piercings. Guns got her first piercing when she was seven years-old; her grandma took her to the mall to get it done for her birthday.  She says it’s expensive if you go to the.  In eighth grade, she got her cartilage pierced and her third piercing she did herself.  In all, she has eight piercings on her ears.  She says her parents are okay with it as long as she has good grades, and behave.

Guns said, “I like the way piercings look, their pretty and a way I can express myself.”

Ally Stormer, a sophomore, said, “Music is a way I express myself, It’s been a hard year for me with my dad passing away, and music has helped me through a lot because music brings to life what you’re thinking and feeling and lets you know that everything’s going to be okay.”

Most of the students at Arrowhead are under 18 years of age so they are unable to get any major body art done like a tattoo. Though some students believe tattoos are no big deal, it is a major step and a permanent one.

The methods we choose to express ourselves to day dates back to over thousands of years ago, though back then it was done mostly for religious reasons. Many bodies including an ice man were found to have has tattoos.

Lexie Sluss a sophomore says, “Self expression is very important in a world that people constantly try to make you who they want you to be, and having a way to express yourself can and break away from all of that.”
