Girls lacrosse tryouts were held from Monday, March 6th to Friday, March 10th in the West Gym at Arrowhead’s North Campus. There are four girls lacrosse teams at Arrowhead: junior varsity red, junior varsity white, varsity white, and varsity red.

Arrowhead’s girls varsity lacrosse has won state every year for the past five years, and has been Conference Champions for the past nine years, according to Arrowhead’s website.

The coaches for each team include Tom Truttschel, Lee Bromberger, and Sara Schultz for varsity red, Steve Meyer, and Rachel Schmidt for varsity white, Jill Goldammer for junior varsity red, and Allie Behrend, and Jamie Musbach for junior varsity white.

Varsity white serves as a varsity reserve team, but they are still in the same Classic 8 tournament as varsity red.

The schools in the Classic 8 tournament for girls lacrosse include Arrowhead, Brookfield, Franklin, Kettle Moraine, Mukwonago, Waukesha, University School of Milwaukee and Kenosha.

According to the girls lacrosse page on Arrowhead’s website, the programs mission statement is “To develop a positive environment where high school athletes learn and develop skills to play competitive lacrosse. Emphasis is placed on showing respect to individuals, teams, coaches, officials, and honoring all forms of athletic achievement. Players will develop confidence, good sportsmanship, and a love of sports which will enrich their lives for years to come.”

Arrowhead girls lacrosse players have practiced every Monday through Friday at Arrowhead since tryouts ended March 10th. Junior varsity practices 4:45pm-6:15pm, and both varsity teams practice from 7:00pm to 9:30pm.

The first games the teams will be playing in is a tournament on March 25th, at 12:00pm.

At the end of the season, there is a Classic 8 Conference Championship, where the varsity teams play the other varsity teams in the conference. Junior varsity also has a Conference Championship, where they play other junior varsity teams in the Classic 8 conference. The varsity Conference Championship takes place at Carroll College in Waukesha.

Kaylee McGill, a senior lacrosse player at Arrowhead says, “I am looking forward to another great season. I love playing lacrosse, and every new season I play in, I look forward to playing with a new team compared to the past seasons I’ve played.”

“Last year was one of my favorite years playing, and I hope this season is just as great as last year’s,” McGill says.
