Girls Lacrosse Gets Ready for Another Season

The 2015 Arrowhead girls’ varsity lacrosse tryouts took place on Monday, March 17 and the season is now underway. There are four teams for girls lacrosse: two JV and two varsity teams.

Varsity Red is coached by Tom Truttschel and Lee Bromburger. The Varsity Red team had a record of 10-1 last season. They lost to Brookfield in the Sectional final game.

Renee Fisher, a senior on Varsity Red, said, “I am excited for the new season. Last year our team was very close so I am excited for that again this year.”

Fischer said they lost four strong players to graduation last year: Payton Truttschel, Robin Wittkopf, Emily Zandy and Maggie Shoenecker.

Gina Vilar, a junior on the Varsity Red team, said, “I am ready for the season to start and I am excited to see how we will do this year.”

Vilar said they have some strong new players coming to play on Varsity Red this year. She said the strongest sophomore is Callie Tjarsken.

Fisher said that she will lead the team this year by keeping everyone excited about the season and by being a good example.

Vilar said, “I will lead the team this season by staying positive and helping new players. I will motivate people when they are down and I will have everyone’s backs.”

Varsity Red’s biggest competition this season is going to be Brookfield and USM, said Fisher.

Fisher also said, “Our goal this year is to make it to the state championship game. Last year we lost by one to Brookfield during the Section Final game and we won’t let that happen again.”

Vilar said, “The team looks good this year and every position is really strong. We are all excited to get started.”
