Arrowhead High School freshmen began their four years of high school on September 5th, 2017.

When the newcomers first came to Arrowhead it seemed very large, unwelcoming and “nerve racking,” as freshman Sydney Stoll said.

Stoll says she struggled “with finding all my classes and not wanting to be late, but by the end of the first week I started to get the hang of my schedule.”

Freshman Carly Harper agrees with Stoll about the first week being crazy but she says that it is easier when you are involved in a sport or activity outside of school to help get to know people. Harper is currently involved in Key Club, Best Buddies, and the Arrowhead Swim and Dive team. Someone who is looking to get involved with activities outside of school can either look on the Arrowhead website, or look at the posters all around the school, or go to the Activities office and sign up.

Stoll says because Arrowhead has such a good education program, great athletic team, and is a big enough school to meet new people, she wouldn’t change a thing. Harper also said said she couldn’t think of anything to change.

Harper said the homework in high school compared to middle school, she stated that teachers gave way more homework in high school, but she has learned time management with doing her homework, meaning she starting studying for test earlier and learned how to manage her homework based on what was the hardest and easiest. She also said she wishes the workload wouldn’t be as much so that she could spend more time with the activities she is involved with.

Stoll agrees saying she wishes the teachers would “layoff the homework for the first few days of school…because the freshmen aren’t used to getting so much. It was hard not to feel stressed or worried about school.”

Stoll said that even in the past few days she has learned to be more organized, because if she isn’t organized, especially with other clubs, it’s hard to keep up with everything.

As Harper puts it, “Arrowhead really sets you up to be successful in college and gives you multiple opportunities to get involved…meet new people and try new things.”

Stoll agrees with Harper saying Arrowhead has programs and clubs that can involve “anyone and everyone, from music and arts to engineering and math, Arrowhead has something for everyone.”

Harper and Stoll both said that they have been enjoying their time at Arrowhead. Stoll said she has been talking to people she would have never talked to at her old school, and Harper says that she is enjoying all of her classes .

Harper said she is looking forward to her years at Arrowhead High School, and where they take her. Stoll agrees and says she is looking forward to her years to come at Arrowhead High School.
