Another new fidget toy has taken the spotlight – the NeeDoh. The NeeDoh comes in two shapes, the gumdrop or the cube. The price for this fidget ranges anywhere from $5 to $12 depending on color, shape or size. The purpose of the NeeDoh was originally for stress relief and to ease anxiety but many wonder if this new fidget is merely a quick trend.
The NeeDoh is made of thermoplastic rubber with a doughy compound in the middle allowing it to remain squishy yet solid, staying mess free. Many teachers regard the NeeDoh as one of the best fidgets yet for schools as it is mess free, quiet and helpful for students.
However, that’s not to say NeeDohs are problem free. Cutting open the cube has turned viral across the internet, especially for younger kids. Another problem is the fact that they are extremely easy to lose.
“A handful of times students have lost their NeeDohs,” says Jill Ann Melton, Arrowhead North Campus greeter. “They’re devastated and they desperately want to find it. But we have reunited owners with their NeeDohs.”
When asked about the lasting interest in NeeDohs she said, “They are pretty amazing, it could be around for a while.”
Yet many regarded the fidget spinner in the same way back in 2017 – a shortlasting trend started by social media.
“I think they’re going to be a trendy thing, I only got it because they were on TikTok, I don’t use mine that often,” Addison Krug-Trost, senior, says.
Regardless of whether the NeeDoh is here to stay or not, it’s clear that it has certainly made an impact across Arrowhead. So, as you go class to class take notice of the colorful blobs upon your classmates desks. And for the owners of these blobs, be careful not to leave them behind!
