As of June eighth, Arrowhead students finished up exams and summer began and students officially said they’ve moved on to the next grade.

Paige Schaber, a now Arrowhead senior, says, “Summer beginning marks that start of less stress and more time to relax. Even if that relaxation is interrupted with work and college tours I don’t have to wake up at six in the morning Monday through Friday so I’m pretty happy.”

Summer is a time to destress free of classes, homework, and tests to study for. Some students have been taking advantage of this free time.

Sophie Carey, an Arrowhead senior, says, “I intend to spend my summer relaxing and enjoying having a break from school. My friends and I have plans to hang out all summer. We even are gonna have get togethers just to check in and make sure everyone’s mental health is alright. School is so stressful many people experience struggles with mental health. Summer is a good time to build it up before school comes along to tear it down.”

With college right around the corner and tuitions looming,Jeremy Kirch, an Arrowhead senior, says, “Yeah I’ll be working 40-50 hours a week. College is expensive and if I want to do stuff and go to school I need to start saving up. With it being summer I have more time to work and can pick up more shifts.”

Kirch isn’t the only one spending his summer this way. Schaber says, “I have a lot going on this summer preparing for college. Not only am I going on college tours but I have an internship with the Democratic party and two jobs. So, I’ll be able to save up for college and get experience in a field I’m interested in. The internship will also provide good recommendations if it goes well.”

Carey says, “Summer is a time for endless opportunities and their is plenty of time to do whatever I want. I think people should spend it relaxing but I understand working as college is expensive and so if life in general. I just hope those who do work find the time to take a load off and unwind.”
