The movie Deadpool was released on February 12, 2016. This hour and forty eight minute movie is rated R and available at Arrowhead’s nearest movie theatres: Marcus Cinema and Majestic Cinema.

For an additional money saver, according to marcustheatres.com, Marcus theatre on Hillside in Delafield, as well as Majestic in Waukesha has $5 Tuesday movies on any movie, any time, for anyone. Additionally, enjoy great concession specials too, like free Popcorn for Magical Movie Rewards Members, $2 Hot Dogs & $2 Candy.

“I saw Deadpool on a $5 Tuesday and it was packed. It had just come out and we were at a 7:00pm movie for only $5 and we had to seriously get there 30 minutes early. It was so crowded. I didn’t even know that many people wanted to see it but once we watched, it explained so much. The movie was amazing, it’s was so funny, Ryan Reynolds made it hilarious,” says junior Marissa Kildow.

“Deadpool is going to endear a whole new audience to the vivid and weird character, while once again demonstrating the tremendous opportunity for variety in the comic book movie genre,” states movie critic, Eric Eisenberg, from cinemablend.com.

In Deadpool, Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when an evil scientist Ajax, played by Ed Skrein, tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, played by Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Rotten Tomatoes, a website used for reviewing movies, gave Deadpool an 83% out of 100%. Additionally, Critics Consensus — a section on the Rotten Tomatoes website that breaks down critics reviews on movies — says this movie is fast, funny, and gleefully profane, the fourth wall busting Deadpool subverts superhero film formula with wildly entertaining and decidedly non family friendly results.

Senior Cassidy Valade says, “I just say Deadpool over the weekend and by far it was one of the best movies from the Marvel series. I would recommend this movie to everyone at Arrowhead, especially because Reynolds is in it, and he’s just amazing and hilarious.”

Reynolds, has been featured in many other Marvel movies including, Van Wilder in Van Wilder (2002), Kevin Kraft in Foolproof (2003), Paul Conroy in Buried (2010), Captain Excellent in Paper Man (2010) and Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in Green Lantern (2011).

Students can view this movie at Marcus theatre on Hillside in Delafield, as well as Majestic theatre in Brookfield. These two are first choices for Arrowhead students to stop at since they are the closest cinemas in the area.

“I personally thought it was a very funny movie, the entire theatre was laughing in almost every scene. The humor that Deadpool had was just hilarious. I most definitely recommend it,” says senior Tiana Rowe.

On the contrary, there were some who didn’t enjoy the movie too much. For example, critic Stephanie Zacharek, from Time Magazine stated that, “The violence may be abundant, but it’s not particularly gratifying, and the repetitive plot mechanics don’t help,”
