Dedication Gone Unnoticed

Arrowhead High School, or otherwise known to some as The University of Arrowhead. The U of A is quite well known for their nitrous athletics.

Arrowhead isn’t compared to a University solely because of it’s high enrollment, but as well as the layout of the school. With two different campuses both housing around 1,400 students, the campus of Arrowhead can somewhat be compared to a small University.

I’m not going to deny that with our high enrollment, we do have more of a selection to chose from when it comes to sports. However, that doesn’t mean that there is less of an effort done by the athletes. With having as high of an enrollment as Arrowhead does, it makes the competition to compete even greater, thus forcing athletes to perform their best and push themselves as hard as they can.

When it comes to the football team here at The U, there are 130 kids participating on the varsity level alone. The competition between schools is high, but it’s just as high or even higher between teammates over playing time. When it comes down to it, it’s the athlete that puts in the time and the heart into the sport.

People always assume that winning comes easy to Arrowhead. What they fail to mention is the hard work that goes into making those wins a possibility. Being a manager for the football team, I see in the hard work put in day in and day out and the amount of work that is put in not just from the boys but also the coaches as well.

Arrowhead comes from a background of winning, from all different sports teams and that is solely because of the hard work and determination put in by the athletes. It’s not just during the season that they are working out every day, but just as much or even more in the off season as well.

With the reputation that The U obtains, it takes a lot of hard work to keep that rep. On any given day after school whether it’s raining, snowing or a bright sunny day you can spot a handful of Arrowhead cross country kids out for a run. They know that to stay their best they have to train hard in the offseason.  Walking into door 15 on a weekday night you are guaranteed to find at least one team occupying the gym space, working hard to be the best.

Yes, Arrowhead is known for their spectacular athletics and their dominance in sports, however the biggest thing failed to mention is the dedication that the athletes put in each and every day to be the best.
