As the wrestling season progresses, the mats in the South Campus lower gym are seeing more sweat and hard work. Following a 2024-2025 campaign that saw Arrowhead finish as the WIAA Division 1 State Runner-up, the Warhawks have spent this winter fighting to get up on the podium.
Under the Head Coach Randy Ferrell, the wrestling team continues to thrive on a culture of “no exceptions.” This year’s squad features a mix of leadership and young talent, currently anchored by three returning state qualifiers (senior Jadden Torres, junior Devin Johnson, and sophomore Zahn Beal). Beal, who took third at state as a freshman, was added in the 120-pound class, dominating the postseason with a formidable 19-2 record.
The team’s depth is perhaps their greatest weapon. Alongside the returning stars, key contributors like Mason Moody, Cole DuChateau and Wyatt Sandoval have consistently fought for state rankings, making the Warhawks a huge threat to opponents in dual-meet formats. Coach Ferrell’s goal is to have a team unity with a balance of individual strengths. Students should prioritize team goals over personal accomplishments.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. After wrapping up a hard-fought regular season with the Classic 8 Conference, the team is now shifting its focus to the WIAA Individual Sectionals on February 14. For the Warhawks, the mission is clear: return to the Kohl Center in Madison and finish the business that was left unfinished last year.
