Special Education students open Cafe Arrowhead

Cafe Arrowhead reopened its doors this week thanks to the work of the children in the special education program at Arrowhead’s south campus. Gina Ray, a special education teacher at south campus advises this.

They take pre-orders if teachers’ weekly orders are turned in by 7:30 in the morning on Mondays. Teachers can preorder by filling out a form that can be found in an email every week from Ray.

The first question on the form will ask for a name, followed by a lunch hour and the campus where the meal will be picked up. Then be presented with sandwich options, after which people will be asked if they would want any condiments on the sandwich. Then finally they are able to choose from various drinks and chips and even get a choice of a cookie.

According to Special education teacher, Mary Kocour, “It is well organized, provides a variety of options, and allows students to build job skills, and is very good food.”

Both chips and drinks cost $0.50 each. Cookies cost $0.76 each, and people may get them in whichever combination they choose a la carte. Both the turkey, bacon, provolone, and cheese sandwich and the ham and cheddar sandwich can be purchased for $6.00. As an additional option, garden salads including a choice of toppings and dressing may be purchased for $6.00.

Stacy Arnett, a special education teacher at south campus says, “The food is great, and not having to pack a lunch in the morning saves me time.”

Orders placed at the South campus are able to be picked up at the cafe during fifth and sixth hour. The orders for the North campus may be picked up at the Coffee Shop during both fifth and sixth hour as well.
