Meet Senior Mady Scholzen

Madysen Scholzen is a 17-year-old senior at Arrowhead High School. Scholzen grew up in West Allis with her two parents Jennifer and Rick and brother George. Being the big sister, Scholzen says she’s had a chaotic yet lovable childhood in her home.

“My mom’s always encouraged me to be a strong, independent woman. My dad also helped me learn how to manage money from a young age. Starting in fifth grade, he had my brother and I start budgeting our money to learn how to save and spend on useful things. Now that I’m older, I’m out and about more but I do still spend time with my family,” said Scholzen.

Scholzen will attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison this coming fall. She will be majoring in accounting.

“I plan to study accounting because I want to be an accountant or something in finance,” said Scholzen.

After earning a bachelor’sbachelors degree in accounting, Scholzen plans to get licensed by a state board of accountancy to become a certified public accountant.

One of Scholzen’s passions is volleyball. She’s been playing since fourth grade but started playing competitively her freshman year of high school. Although she will not be playing in college, she played on Arrowhead’s varsity girls’ team during her junior and senior years.

This past year, Scholzen coached a younger girls’ volleyball team. She’s coaching a club team called Revolution Volleyball Academy (RVA) 14 Navy.

Scholzen said her team has gotten better as they’ve gone on, and they just moved their national seed rank up by over 300 positions. She expressed her hopes to do well in Nationals next month.

“I coach them because the head coach of the team was the coach of my 15 and 16 club seasons and I love her. She asked me if I wanted to coach and of course I said yes,” Scholzen said.
