Arrowhead’s 2021 Hawkfest planning has begun and DECA has lots in store. Hawkfest is an annual event run by Arrowhead’s DECA marketing club. Hawkfest is Friday, September 17th from 4:00-8:00pm followed by a football game against Kettle Moraine beginning at 7:00 p.m at Arrowhead.

DECA is a competitive marketing club and they are in charge of events like trunk or treat, and marketing nights. The teacher that is in charge of DECA is Steve Melzer. The student leaders involved in DECA include Senior Ella Schieble, Senior Kyle Staus, Senior Lauren Peterson, and more.

Students can join DECA by going to the Arrowhead website and filling out an interest form. Their first meeting was held on Sept. 13th.

Senior Ella Schieble is leading Hawkfest this year and is the VP of special events for DECA. Schieble says, “There will be so many fun attractions, including an obstacle course from Midwest Twisters, an entertainment stage, a rock climbing wall, and tons of other fun activities. This year’s Hawkfest is going to be very big and have a lot of booths and food.” Last year Hawkfest could not happen so this year Schieble says, “we are looking forward to making it the best one yet.”

Senior Kyle Staus, is DECA’s chapter president. Staus said, “We have been generating sponsorships with local businesses. Publicity to the public, local feeder middle schools, signage, and social media. We have been selling shirts. We also have been connecting with our school’s clubs and organizations to prepare their booths.”

Some of the businesses that are supporting Hawkfest are Culvers, Chick-fil-a, Midwest Twisters, Bubbas, The Picnic Basket, and more.

Staus says, “this year’s theme is HAWKFEST! Bring on your best WESTERN!”
