Frey said a survey of students from the fashion forecasting class at BGSU showed that 98 percent of students had purchased at least one infinity scarf before.

Diya Ramanathan, a student at Arrowhead, said that she only owns inexpensive infinity scarves, but that even the cheap scarves still work great to keep her warm in the colder months.

According to Fannin, they are a budget-friendly accessory, they help you stay warm, it’s a whole new look, it’s different to necklaces, they’re very on trend, they draw attention upward, and they always fit.

The history of the scarf dates back to ancient Rome. It was first used to keep men clean and for wiping sweat, not to keep people warm. Historians believe that scarves made of cloth were used to identify the rank of officers and Chinese warriors during the reign of the Chinese Emperor Cheng. They were also used for rank of an officer in 17th century Croatia. It wasn’t until the 18th century that the scarf was used an an apparel accessory. in the twentieth century, scarves became the single most versatile apparel accessory for both men and women.
Fashion icons such as Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and Chrissy Teigen have all been photographed sporting infinity scarves before, which promotes the accessory like crazy. This then causes their fans and followers to want to buy the same scarves. 0
“I love to see my favorite celebrities wearing circle scarves, it just shows how trendy they are and how good they can look,” said Arrowhead freshman Lauren McDonald.
Only the future will tell if the infinity scarf is a trend that is going to last.
