Arrowhead Senior Ella Barrie’s design won after being voted top choice to be printed on Arrowhead DockHounds T-shirts. She will be tossing the t-shirt at the Arrowhead/DockHound partner game on Monday, May 20.
The Lake Country DockHounds are a professional baseball team based in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, that plays in the American Association of Professional Baseball, an official Partner League of Major League Baseball.
In Barrie’s graphic design class, there was a class assignment to change the colors of the DockHounds logo limited to three colors, including white, and incorporate the Arrowhead “A”.
“I designed this for a class assignment. I thought about winning the competition for the chosen design, but never thought it would actually happen,” says Barrie.
Students in Jana Danay’s graphic design for business classes worked on the project. Once the designs were turned in, Arrowhead staff voted on the top designs, and with the top two from that, the graphic design students voted.
Purchasing a shirt from the BSN Webstore was available before midnight on Thursday, May 2. The design was also printed as a sweatshirt, crewneck, and long-sleeve shirt.
T-shirts were available for pick up starting Friday, May 17 at the North Greeter. If a student ordered a T-shirt, they were responsible for picking it up from the North Greeter.
“These shirts are being used for one event on May 20th. DockHounds and Arrowhead are partnering together—three dollars of each ticket sale goes to Arrowhead,” says Barrie.
Along with Barrie throwing out her shirts during the game, Arrowhead’s Pep Band, under the direction of Ryan Meisel will be in attendance playing music to pump the crowd up before the game and presenting the National Anthem to get the game started.
“It’s pretty cool! Graphic design is just a fun hobby for me, so it’s interesting to see what I can achieve from it,” says Barrie.
