On February 5th and 6th, the Boys Swim and Dive team at Arrowhead competed in the State Meet held at Waukesha South High School. They finished in third place for Division 1.

Boys Coach Norma Balogh says that, “Early season expectations were to finish top 10 in the state this year. As the season progressed, we saw that we were capable of shooting for one of the top finishes at the state meet.”

She continued: “We finished 3rd overall. That was a HUGE improvement from 17th place last year. I’d say we exceeded all realistic expectations.”

Twelve of their 14 individuals and relays scored. Of those 14, eight were top eight individual finishes and two were top eight relay finishes. These performances earned them 192 points and a third-place finish. They followed the second-place team Greenfield who had 211 points, and State Champion Sun Prairie who racked up 232.5 points.

Senior captain, Bennett Balogh, says, ¨My expectations leading into state were high because I always hope for the best. I wanted to get top three in one of my events and top eight in the other.¨

While Bennett did not get third, he did make the podium in both events placing seventh and eighth place.

As for next season plans, Bennett is undetermined for college but will be swimming either division one or two for swimming and get a degree in mechanical engineering.
