Hawkettes First Competition of the Season

Arrowhead’s dance team, the Hawkettes, have their first competition of the season this coming week. It is at Brookfield East, on Saturday, November 21.

The girls will be competing against high school dance teams including Homestead High school, Brookfield East High school, and Muskego High school, along with others in the area.

The Hawkettes have prepared a hip hop routine choreographed by sophomores Grace Hooge, and Lily Wakefield; a jazz routine choreographed by junior captain Anna Tweeden; and a pom routine choreographed by seniors captains Hayley Javoroski and Annabelle Weiss.

The dance teams competing will be scored in each category. This year, Junior Anna Tweeden says the Hawkettes are hoping to place in the top three for each of their dances.

They also learned another pom routine over the summer during their Badgerette camp. The Badgerette camp is a workshop/day camp teams attend where they learn different dances and see other teams. They will be adding their own ending to one of the dances they had learned, and competing it at the competition.

Sophomore Alayna Judd says, “We are so excited to finally see the competition from other schools. Sadly not all other schools have had the opportunity to start their routines until recently. But, we are feeling confident with our routines.”
