Competitive game played in the new patch

There are many things people are hoping for in Patch 4.9, namely nerfs to Rage and Cernunnos. People are also looking for some form of anti-crit to end the crit meta. In addition to this, a new assassin is being released.

The new assassin is a Chinese god called Da Ji, the nine-tailed fox. Her passive causes her autoattacks to do bleed damage for two seconds after an attack. Her first ability is an auto attack buff that makes her next autoattack do burn damage for three seconds after the auto (this stacks with her passive). Her next ability is a two second channel. Over the course of it, she’ll do four slashes that apply the bleed from her passive. While channeling it, she’ll receive a movement speed buff and slow enemies behind her. Her next ability is a blink that teleports her to a friendly or enemy god. It also does damage to enemies in a small area around wherever she blinked to. Her ult has been described as a worse ares ult. It’s three consecutive skillshots that after a duration will pull up to three enemy gods to a pillar where the ult was activated doing damage over time to whoever gets pulled.

People have played her on the PTS (Play Test Server) and have found her to be really weak. She can get in really easily but can’t get out easily, and at the same time she can’t kill her targets quickly due to her emphasis on damage over time. Moreover she’s clunky because nothing in her kit really synergizes well together. Most mage mains, won’t be nervous if a Da Ji goes in on them For an assassin, this is problematic. People are already discussing a potential rework.

Of course with a new patch comes new skins. The new skins for this patch are Stone Sentinel Camazotz, Nebula Medusa, Shino Bo Kuzenbo, Storm Raven Jing Wei and the mastery skins for Ganesha.

There were few item changes in this patch, and unfortunately none of the items were the ones that people wanted nerfed. To start Mark of the Vanguard had had its true damage reduction decreased from five to four making it a less enticing starter item for people looking to dive early.

Chronos Pendant is receiving a massive buff increasing its magical power from 60 to 80 making it better than it was when it was considered overpowered. Many more mage mains going to be incorporating it into more of their own builds.

Emerald mail has had its health increased from 200 to 250. Thousand Fold Blade has had its physical power increased to 20 from 25.

Gauntlet of Thebes has had its health decreased from 400 to 350 to make it a less enticing item for supports. But it’s still gonna be top tier.

Stone of Fal has received a gold cost reduction down to 2,700 gold. But it’s still gonna be trash.

Shifter’s Shield has received a nerf to its base stats and a buff to its aura effect making it a good item for defence without falling behind on damage. This makes it more enticing for assassins and will likely see some use.

Although rage is still broken, at least Cernunnos got nerfed. His Summer Heat has had its bonus scaling reduced by 10% and had his Bramble Blast cooldown increased to 15 seconds. Still overpowered, but not quite as bad.
