Button and Bundle Up For The Emerging Boot Socks

While the majority of Arrowhead students wouldn’t think twice about wearing socks with their boots, the high socks and boots trend has been emerging through the fashion world–as well as the Arrowhead High School halls—-as well as the Arrowhead High School halls–this year.

Arrowhead senior Grace Cummings says, “I love wearing comfy socks but never really had them show above my boots before. I guess I don’t really have high socks that go past my shins. I’ve seen these socks styled on Pinterest and Instagram and they look super cute so I think I’m going to try them out.”

Letting your boot socks peek over the tops of your boots create a unique and stylish look with little effort. Boot socks come in all different colors and types including lace, ruffles, and thick knit.

American Eagle, Urban Outfitters, and Bootcuffsocks.com all sell boot socks. American Eagle sells theirs for $12 each and Urban Outfitters has theirs for $14–and right now they have a deal for 2 for $10. Bootscuffsocks.com sells theres for around $12-$20, depending on the style.

Perfect for the cooler weather, the trend does two things: keeps you warm and looks super cute. You can’t go wrong when functionality and fashion are combined, according to Collegefashion.com.

Senior Mckenzie Teel says, “I wear boot socks all the time. I love how [I] can wear them whenever during the winter. My feet always get so cold wearing boots with thin socks, so wearing warm, comfy socks that are also really cute is perfect.”

According to Collegefashion.com, consider pairing socks and boots by height. The higher the boot, the better. Structured ankle boots shorten the leg on their own, and the addition of a bunchy sock adds unwanted volume to the lower leg. Loose, slouchy styles, however, may be just right for a relaxed look. Mid-calf to knee-high boots are the most universally flattering rises for pairing boots and socks, but over-the-knee and thigh high styles can look equally as chic — especially on taller girls.

“I really like bootcut socks. There’s so many styles and patterns that you can pick from that can really update your style. Everyone should definitely check them out,” says junior Anna Hayes.
