Local Fast Food Chain Excites Arrowhead Students

According to Culvers.com, in 1984 Craig and Lea Culver, along with Craig’s parents Ruth and George, opened the very first Culver’s in their hometown of Sauk City, Wisconsin.

After many years of running other restaurants, they opened Culver’s incorporating the signature ButterBurger and fresh frozen custard from Culver’s love of his mother’s homemade hamburgers and his favorite vacation treat. Each Hamburger is used with 100% midwest beef.

Along with their hamburgers and frozen custard, the Culvers family wanted to create a menu with options everyone would enjoy.

Phelan Purnell, a senior at Arrowhead said, “I love how they have different ice cream flavors for different seasons. Like right now, they have pumpkin spice shakes. I don’t like how it’s super unhealthy though because it’s not somewhere you can go to eat all the time, but their food does taste really good.” Pumpkin spice shakes have 710 calories.

Items on the Culver’s menu range from fresh crispy chicken–510 calories for a four piece, Wisconsin cheese curds–510 calories, and freshly made salads–60 calories.

According to Culvers.com, Margo Valenzuela, a Culver’s employee said, “I’m not here to just serve ButterBurgers and fresh frozen custard. I have the opportunity to reach a lot of people and touch their hearts.”

Landing a job at Culver’s and working her way up to becoming general manager allowed Valenzuela to fulfill her American Dream by moving to Florida, a place where she’s always wanted to live. She then opened her own Culver’s franchise.

With over 500 Culver’s locations, Arrowhead High School students have the opportunity to have a Culver’s experience close to home. There is a Culver’s franchise on Industrial Ct. in Hartland, only a few minutes away from Arrowhead High School. Culver’s is open from 10:30am-11:00pm daily.

Megan Block, an Arrowhead senior and current Culver’s employee said, “It’s pretty fun working at Culver’s. I really like working the drive through because i’m usually always busy and not bored just standing around. The best part is break because there’s so many different choices to eat.”

Along with their signature menu items, Culver’s offers job opportunities for people in the community.
