Do You Crave the Coffee or the Brand Name?

According to Slashfood.com, Starbucks coffee is the most popular coffee shop franchise in America. Far and wide, with stores in over 40 countries, consumers stop at the shop throughout the day, from opening at 6am to close at 9pm in the United States. Throughout the US and Canada shops combined, 10,465,000, cups of coffee are sold a day. Many of the cups sold could be to teenage girls.

Julia Pjevach, a sophomore at AHS, says, “I go to Starbucks probably once a week with friends or with my sister after school or on the weekend. Sometimes even more than that because I really do like their coffee.”

The Starbucks menu includes a variety of drinks: smoothies, teas, cappuccinos, lattes, hot cocoa, coffee, and their famous frappucinos.

Kendall Bennett, a sophomore at AHS, says, “My favorite drinks to get at Starbucks would probably be either Passion Tea Lemonade, or a double chocolate chip frappe. They are both so good I feel like I couldn’t find drinks like that just anywhere. Starbucks is just good quality coffee and tea.”

While the menu is specifically known for their drinks, the franchise also offers desserts, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and wraps.

Nina DeQuardo, a junior at Arrowhead, says, “Yes, I love getting the food when I go. I haven’t tried their sandwiches or wraps but I’ve heard good things. However, they definitely have delicious pumpkin bread and cake pops.”

Starbucks is not only just for the cup of joe and sandwich to go, it also used as a social hearth or studying area.

Pjevach says, “I usually hang out with friends there and we will occasionally study. It’s a very relaxing environment. I can also enjoy some relaxing coffee and can really feel the stress relief which is much needed at times.”

Starbucks offers free wifi access and spacious, calming sitting areas both indoor and outdoor. Also, they offer a variety of CDs to buy and listen to while spending time in and out of Starbucks.

Pjevach says, “I always love buying unique finds at Starbucks and also their music selection is not mainstream at all, making the selection much more appealing to me. I tend to listen to more indie and alternative music rather than mainstream pop or hip-hop.”

In addition to the sale of CD’s, Starbucks also sells a variety of coffee beans for sale and also many to-go coffee/tea mugs sold at a reasonable price.

Bennett says, “The to-go mugs they sell at Starbucks are really durable and cute. I think they are definitely worth the price — mine has lasted over a year now since I bought it.”

Local Starbucks shops are located in the following towns: Delafield, Pewaukee, Sussex, Oconomowoc, Waukesha, and Brookfield.

Pjevach says, “To me, Starbucks is a delicious, cute, and convenient place to go. I love their coffee and I love their environment.”
