Fall Has Arrived In Hartland

From Friday night football to senior pictures, fall is a busy and exciting time for Arrowhead students.

Everytravel.com said one of the most popular activities in the fall is hiking. The website gave a list of the best trails in southeast Wisconsin. Topping the chart is the Ice Age Trail right here in Hartland. Another popular hiking attraction is Devils Lake in Baraboo, the biggest state park in Wisconsin.

Arrowhead student Diya Ramanathan said, “I love taking my dog to walk on local trails in the fall.”

The American Hiking Association says hiking is not only fun, but also good for you. They referenced studies showing regular moderate exercise can reduce the chance for obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and anxiety.

According to videtteonline.com, the top five candle scents for fall include “Leaves” by Bath and Body Works, “Spiced Pumpkin” by Yankee Candle, “Evening Bonfire” by WoodWick Escape, “Apple Jack & Peel” by Kayloma Candles & Gifts, and “Maple Butterscotch” by Colonial Candle.

“I love stocking up on fall candles when they come out. My favorites are Pumpkin Spice and Sparkling Icicle from Bath and Body Works.” said Hattie Salzman, and Arrowhead senior.

According to candles.org, 35% of all candle sales take place from October through December, otherwise known as the holiday season.

With fall comes the start of the holiday season, Halloween. This year it falls on a Saturday, the first time in seven years. Harris Interactive took a poll and found that Halloween is America’s third favorite holiday, after Christmas and Thanksgiving.

There are many coveted haunted houses in the area. At the top of the list on wisconsinhauntedhouses.com was the Burial Chamber Complex in Neenah. Next was the Mars House in Milwaukee, then, The Hill Has Eyes in Franklin. They are all reasonably priced for admission.

Arrowhead Senior Leah Stapleton says she is a haunted house fanatic. She said, “My favorite haunted house is Factory of Fear in Racine, but I also love the haunted houses at Fright Fest at Six Flags in Gurnee, IL.”

Apple picking, corn mazes and pumpkin carving are popular fall activities. Metro parent magazine said that Apple Holler in Sturtevant and Nieman Orchards in Cedarburg are two great locations for apple and pumpkin picking that are open everyday of the week, and Shady Maple Farm in Sussex has a great corn maze to get lost in.

Fall is also when some seniors take their senior pictures. Information on AHS senior picture requirements can be accessed on Arrowheadschools.org on the
