Arrowhead senior Patrick Schmidt began the first step of his college application process in his junior year by attending the annual Wisconsin Education Fair at Arrowhead High School during September of 2013.

He waited until June of his junior year in order to start applying, touring, and writing college essays.

In early June, Schmidt began his search for colleges.  After finding two colleges that had the audio engineering major, he took tours, visiting both Michigan Technical College and University of Wisconsin Madison.

“After touring [the colleges] I really liked them both and decided to apply to both of them,” says Schmidt.

Starting in August, Schmidt began writing his college essays.

“The essays themselves posed no problem, but were just a time commitment for me,” says Schmidt.

Schmidt  to both of the colleges he wished to attend.

He has so far received a letter of acceptance from Michigan Tech.  He has received nothing from UWM.

Schmidt says he is currently planning on attending Michigan Technical College, and is still planning on an audio engineering major.

“I didn’t really have any problems with the application process, in fact I would have to say it was almost too easy.  I thought it would be a lot more complicated and time consuming.  Not to mention the wait for [acceptance] letters being more stressful., says Schmidt.
