It is time for Holiday Songs! Around this time of year, everyone gets excited about listening to their favorite songs, as the snow is falling and holiday decorations are being put up. Holiday songs bring a lot of spirit and feelings of happiness in families all around the world, but especially in the students and staff at Arrowhead.
“My favorite holiday songs are ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey and ‘It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ by Andy Williams because it gets me in the Christmas spirit and the songs are catchy,” Isabell Vanderboom, senior, said.
According to Billboard, “’All I Want for Christmas is You’, hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2019, a full 25 years after its 1994 release, becoming a yearly holiday staple at the top of the charts ever since.”
“My favorite holiday song is ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ because I love its rhythm and the singer (Brenda Lee) is very good,” Lucy Bruggemann, senior, said.
According to PBS, “Brenda Lee’s iconic holiday hit, ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,’ was first released in 1958 when she was just 13 years old, written by Johnny Marks and became a classic Christmas staple despite not charting immediately.”
In crowded hallways and busy classrooms, hearing a favorite holiday track can instantly lift spirits. The music provides a break from stress, offering a boost of joy and nostalgia.
“My favorite holiday song is ‘Christmas Eve’ by the Trans- Siberian Orchestra,” Newton Smerchek, Arrowhead Gym Teacher, said.
