It’s the bittersweet moment when students reflect on the past year and get excited for summer and the future. Summer brings happiness and joy to most students—but some students are sad to leave the classroom.
Freshman Elise Noorgard said, “My favorite class was geometry because Mrs. Bernhardt is really fun and I enjoy learning from her.”
April Bernhardt is one of the Algebra and Geometry teachers at south campus. This is her first year teaching at Arrowhead as she has taught in Minnesota in the past.
Students in AP classes are in the middle of exams, so for the rest of the year, they will work on mini projects. For example, the AP HUG (Human Geography) class will be doing a project on human interaction in local places throughout the world.
Freshman Sophia Albrecht said, “I’m really happy that AP HUG is over; it’s crazy to me how fast the year went so now we just get to watch some movies and do a project as well.”
The AP HUG exam was held on Wednesday, May 7th, and lasted from 7:20-11:30 am and students can expect to see results in about two months.
Some teachers say they get excited as the year comes to an end, but some also say the end of the year becomes more stressful as they prepare for final exams and wrap up the year with assignments.
Bernhardt said, “I love the end of the year so much, but I also dislike it because it’s a ton of grading and creating assignments and sometimes you just want to be over with it.”
A lot of events have happened over the year—from science labs to field trips for school clubs.
Noorgard said her favorite memory was when, “In science class, we had to dissect a cow eye, which was pretty disgusting but I will always remember it.”
