After a successful State Career Development Conference at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva from February 25th through February 28th, 2024, Arrowhead DECA is taking 13 talented marketing students to the International Career Development Conference in Anaheim, California.
Twenty-seven students qualified for the state conference and now 11 students are competing with two students having the opportunity to go for a Leadership Academy opportunity.
The Leadership Academy is where two students are picked from every school, and they go to nationals without competing and go through workshops to grow themselves as a leader while still getting to do all the fun things with their chapter.
Freshman and leadership academy qualifier Cayden Gusho said, “I’m excited to go to nationals without the stress of competing, I hope that I learn how to grow as a leader and I’m excited to miss four days of school as well.”
The top seven in roleplays qualified for nationals and the top six in projects qualified for nationals. The awards are medals and glass trophies for the qualifiers.
The qualifiers for ICDC are Junior Rylie Gagnon, Junior Gavin Dai, Freshman Cayden Gusho, Sophomore Malena Jerge, Senior Maggie Jahnke, Senior Shriya Katta, Senior Lily Liu, Freshman Aubrey McGuire, Senior Krrish Patel, Senior Yamna Rahman, Senior Gaurav Saluja, Junior Signe Warwick, and Junior Eason Zhang.
Freshman Aubrey McGuire said, “I got 5th in my project of Integrated Marketing Campaign and 3rd in my roleplay category of Principles of Finance, so I double qualified and am going to compete in my project event instead of my roleplays since you can only compete in one event at nationals.”
The DECA International Career Development Conference is from April 27th through April 30th, in Anaheim, California.
