The Death Of A Childhood Dog

Junior Emily Parr lost her family dog a year and a half ago due to a tumor on the dog’s heart. The dog was a female Golden Retriever named Daisy. She lived six years with the family before she lost consciousness in the garden one afternoon from complications from the tumor.

Daisy attended mandatory check-ups at the vet, but the tumor on her heart remained unnoticed until the day she died. The tumor enlarged so much around her heart that it cut off her oxygen supply to the blood flow that was being pumped by her heart, making Daisy pass out and stop breathing.

“We put her down after one day… She fell over in the garden and she couldn’t get up. Her death shocked us because of how sudden it was,” says Parr.

Parr says her family was very close to Daisy and they all shared a special bond with her.

“Daisy kept the family together. I know that sounds cheesy, but she really did. If anyone was fighting, we could go lay by Daisy and she’d let us find comfort in her. She was the best pet I have ever had and I don’t think I will have a better pet than her,” says Parr.

“Daisy’s death took a toll on the entire family,” Parr says.

Parr’s mom, who was the closest to the dog, cried and mourned for days. Parr mourned with her mother along with the rest of the family.

“My entire family felt the sadness of the death. We were so close to that dog,” says Parr.

To help get over the death of Daisy, Parr and her family got a new dog immediately. The dog’s name is Sophie and is also a golden retriever like Daisy.

“The dog is so wild, but I can’t help but love her because she looks exactly like Daisy,” says Parr.

Parr says, “I can speak for my entire family when I say that Daisy will always have a special place in my heart no matter how many other dogs I have throughout my life.”
