For the competitive student athletes at Arrowhead, the offseason isn’t a time to relax, it’s a time to work hard and become a better athlete.  The afterschool lifting and conditioning workouts provide this opportunity to all athletes at Arrowhead.  The workouts are run by Mr. Herriot, Mr. Miller, and Mr. Witte.

The workouts are structured to build strength and endurance for athletes.  You’re not just focusing on one type of exercise; you’re incorporating everything into one workout routine.

The workouts help athletes looking to increase strength and endurance for their sports.

Chris Herriot, the head track and field coach, said, “The workouts are great because it allows athletes to work out in a controlled atmosphere.  Everyone goes through the same progression and it allows them to perform better in their sports.”

The workouts after school aren’t just something to keep athletes in shape.  They can also improve athlete performance.

“I’ve seen major improvements that have resulted from this workout, but ultimately you get out what you put in,” says Herriot.

Thomas McCormick, a senior, has been participating in the workouts since last year.

“I do the workouts because I can feel how much better they’re making me,” says McCormick.  “I know my teammates and I can have a big season in track this year, we just need to keep working hard in the weight room.”
