Arrowhead honor students were awarded Wednesday for their hard work and achievements.

On Wednesday, May 24th, Arrowhead High School recognized Academic Honor Students. Both north campus and south campus students who received a overall grade point average of 3.5 or above this year qualified to attend this special event.

North campus honor students enjoyed a cookout with brats and burgers at the stadium in honor of their achievements during 5th and 6th hours.

South campus students were awarded with entertainment by ComedySportz during 9th and 10th hour.

ComedySportz is an improvisational comedy organization that was founded in 1984 in Milwaukee. Local comedians such as Dick Chudnow, Bob Orvis, and Brian Green started the organization.

Students eligible to attend these events received an email on Monday, May 22nd. The email directed towards north campus students, sent by Jan Wenzler, Arrowhead’s administrative secretary, said, “As a reward for your commitment and dedication, we will be honoring all juniors and seniors that qualify with our annual cookout in the football stadium.”

Although the weather was cloudy and low 60’s, the cookout went on under the football stadium’s bleachers. Principal Gregg Wieczorek, Associate Principal Debra Paradowski, and Deputy Freyer served brats, burgers, hot dogs, and chips to students. Many students enjoyed their lunch inside, however, because of the chilly weather.

Parents additionally were notified of their child’s achievements via e-mail.

Wristbands were required for entry and students were able to pick up their wristband during school Wednesday at the Welcome Center.

Elli Kollman, a senior at Arrowhead High School, says, “The food was really good and it was nice that you were allowed to get as many helpings of food as you wanted. I think it’s really nice that they do this every year to celebrate with the honor students, especially since Arrowhead has so many.”
