According to Buzzfeed.com, Lacrosse and Field Hockey are currently the largest growing sports in America right now. At Arrowhead highschool, every sport has it’s own, upkept area to practice and play, except Lacrosse and Field Hockey.  So why are these teams get the short end of the stick?

Looking around Arrowhead High School, a football field, soccer area, hockey center, tennis courts, and gymnasiums will be found. However, there is a lack of Larosse and Field Hockey fields.

“Other schools know Arrowhead as the school obsessed with their sports teams,” says Kasey Chadick,  a student who has just transerred to Arrowhead from oconomowoc High school, “but their Lacrosse fields are the worst to play on.”

“If we stay at Arrowhead, we have to share fields. Otherwise we use our own gas to go to North Lake and use their fields. Both fields are dry, and have rough grass that slows the ball down. When we play other teams that have nice fields to practice on, they can play at a much faster pace than we are used too.” says Alison Kroeninger, a Lacrosse and Field Hockey player.

Trying to building turf fields and facilities for these sports has been put into motion. The lacrosse and field hockey teams have been working hard to raise money, but not much support has been shown. Players on the team have been looseing hope in their dream for adequate facilties.

“Arrowhead lax and fockey are really a second thought to people, I feel like every other sport has its place at arrowhead, and having our own fields will bring more notice to us.” states Cassidy Valade, whose team members agree whole-heartedly with.

Building these facilities would greatly improve the teams. With turf to practice on, the teams would be able to practice at a faster pace and reduce the risk of injuries that come with the current, muddy fields.

Having these faclities wouldn’t just benefit girls lacrosse and  field hockey. Boys teams as well as gym class, clubs and other activities would be able to use them.
Any team at Arrowhead can tell you exactly what “One Team” means. For anyone who doesn’t know, it’s a promise that everyone stands by and supports each other. It’s time for Arrowhead to stand by and support  their Lacrosse and Field Hockey teams.
