Arrowhead AP Psychology Students Take the AP Test

Arrowhead juniors Kenzie Huckstorf and Tom Newman took the AP Psychology test on the afternoon of May 4th in the West Gym at Arrowhead’s North Campus. The AP test will be graded by the college board to determine whether or not students will receive college credits for taking the class and doing well on the exam. The test scores will be posted online in July for students and parents to see.

Huckstorf says she studied for weeks before the test and felt very well prepared to take it and pass it. Huckstorf says she went to study groups that her teacher, Jen Brown, offered some days after school and also studied with friends at Starbucks.

“I felt like I prepared myself well for this test. I was confident walking out of there, which is good considering how much time I put into studying,” says Huckstorf.

On the other hand, Newman says he didn’t study before the AP test. Newman says his method of preparation was paying attention in class, working hard on classroom assignments, and studying for tests in his AP Psychology class.

“I studied a lot during the year before each test and I think that was my way of drilling the information into my head. I didn’t need to go back and study material I already know because of the class I’ve been taking all year,” says Newman.

Huckstorf says the AP test was time consuming, but she used up every minute she could to make sure her test was finished and accurate.

“It was a long three and a half hours sitting in a chair, but I used the entire time for my test,” says Huckstorf.

Newman says his plans for his future career has nothing to do with his selection of Arrowhead’s AP Psychology course, but he says he still learned a lot from the class.

“I don’t want to be a psychologist or anything, but the stuff I learned from the class will apply to me and my experiences for the rest of my life which is cool,” says Newman.
