A Push to Teach

Growing up and being required to go to school can be rough for many students no matter what age. With the difficulties in life (such as trying to find friends, being bullied, or even if things are good), there needs to be something or someone neutral in their life. A teacher is someone you see every day and is someone you can go to whenever. You could say that the teachers in my life have been that someone for me.

Just about every year, students switch teachers and have to adapt to a new one. After the start of the year, I think the teacher should slowly get into business and increase day by day like a lot of mine did. This made it seem that I wasn’t being overwhelmed with new work right after summer.

Getting involved in personal things as the year goes on and being a good person to talk to can make a student pay much more attention during class, because of the respect the student has for the teacher.

As I grew up, I always hated to learn. I was ready to go outside to play football with all my friends; that made my learning extremely hard because I didn’t focus. I look back and think the teachers I had did a good job because I can still remember a lot from what they taught. They all went above and beyond.

Sophomore year I decided to take a class with seniors and juniors called Journalism. I always had good ideas, but I really wanted to get better at putting creative ideas and organizing them on paper. It was pretty hard coming into the class because of the intimidation of older students. Ms. Jorgansen was right there to help and get me started. She constantly came over by the computer to make sure my article was perfect along with teaching me new ways to improve.

I’ll never forget the things I have been taught and how much persistence, dedication, and enthusiasm she showed. Having a inspiration like Ms. Jorgensen will help me throughout my writing career and more.

Beyond that, great teachers clearly have to have the education to be there. With their good education, they are fluent in what they are teaching and they won’t leave students with constant questions. I once had a teacher who would just state everything from the book and we would have to save our questions for after. By that point most of the students forgot the question they were going to ask and really ruined our learning experience.

By teachers knowing what they are talking about, and by working with students before and after school, teachers are showing they are doing their job because they show personal care for each and every student.

The environment each and every student is in will affect how they are later in life. This means that elementary students going into middle school are definitely the most important. These are the most important stages in a kid’s life because they are trying to figure out who they are and figure out who their true friends are. The teacher helps them by giving good advice in hard times and by setting a good example like many teachers did while I was growing up.

Changing schools from a Milwaukee school to a Waukesha school was a big change for me. I was instantly put into classes I would’ve never thought I would take before high school and the teachers were definitely stricter. That made the learning environment a lot easier, but still pretty hard. I then realized how important it is for teachers and students to be working together in order to get a full education.

The teachers here at Arrowhead High School have been more then amazing by helping get this far and they all show they are ready for any challenge they are put to. That’s what makes a perfect teacher.
