Students Watch Survivor

Survivor, Season 28: Cagayan is currently on air. Arrowhead students have a strategy and a love for this popular survival game show as they watch the contestants outwit, out last, and out play their competitors.

Arrowhead senior Mitchell Bringe said, “I love Survivor. I’ve seen at least 10 seasons. I think this is going to be a good season with all the blind sides at the beginning and J’Tia already dumping out all the rice.”

Survivor has been airing since 2000. Jeff Prost has been the host of Survivor since the game show started. CBS has created 28 different seasons of Survivor. This season of Survivor has three tribes: Brains, Brawns, and Beauty.

Arrowhead senior Nick Sorenen said, “The Brawns tribe is clearly the better of the three tribes. The Brains tribe is down the crapper. They need to re-draw tribes soon.”

Each season of survivor is located in a different tropical area. The contestants are generally spilt into two tribes and compete against each other.  Every few days, the tribes compete in reward challenges and tribal challenges. The tribe that loses the tribal challenge goes to tribal council and votes off one of their own.

Bringe said, “It’s pretty early in the game to tell who’s going to win, but if I were to pick someone to win, it would either be Spencer or Tony.”

For all 40 days, no challenge is the same. Each one stresses the use of the competitors body and mind. Mind over body is crucial in order to have a chance at winning.

Sorensen said, “My favorite challenge is card stacking one.” In this challenge, competitors use wood blocks to build a tower like is done with a deck of cards.

“I like how some towers can get to 10 feet tall then fall over. Just comes to show that it’s never over in Survivor,” said Sorensen.

Bringe said, “My favorite challenge is the eating one. Some of the food they eat is worse than what people had to eat on FearFactor.” The food varies from mealworms, to large portions of pig intestines, to grubs.

“The challenge is disgusting and makes me squirm, but I find it entertaining and funny,” said Bringe.

“It’s too early to tell if this is going to be the best season yet. But with the unpredictable personalities, and few people taking leadership positions, it’s going to be a good one to watch,” said Binge.

Jeff Prost is bound to throw curve balls at the competitors. Brains vs. Brawns vs. Beauty is the clash of clans and it’s going to be one to remember.
