Miley Puts The Bang in “Bangerz”

On Sunday, March 9th, Miley Cyrus came the BMO Harris Bradley Center to tour her new album, “Bangerz.” She began the concert in lingerie, due to an outfit malfunction. In the rush of preparing herself physically for the concert, she ran out of time to do an outfit change for her song, “23.” This concert brought out hundreds of fans to the Bradley Center. The tour started off in Vancouver, Canada, on February 14th and will be ending on April 25th in Connecticut.

Cj Taubner, a junior, at AHS, says, “Miley has an amazing voice and great stage presence. Watching her live made me feel like I could appreciate her a lot more. Also, it showed how much hard work she performs on the stage.”

While Miley was came out on stage to perform her song, “23” she experienced an extreme outfit malfunction. For this song she had planned to wear a Chicago Bulls jersey but she could not make the outfit change in a timely manner.

Julia Pjevach, a sophomore, at AHS, says, “Watching Miley come out in her underwear and bra showed me how confident of a performer she is. When she tweeted, ‘The show must go on.’ it made it all the better. She also gave us all a good laugh by addressing her attire on stage.”

Throughout the past year Miley has changed her image by cutting and dying her hair. She also changed her image musically speaking as well. During this change, she became more provocative in her song lyrics and body language. She also has become more a controversial by swinging nude in her music video, “Wrecking Ball.”

Taubner says, “Her costumes were amazing and shows how little she cares about the opinions of others. She loves to be herself and have fun. Watching her in concert proved this to me a lot.”

These changes began to show greatly after her engagement with Liam Hemsworth broke off in October of 2013. Miley explains her pain lyrically in her song, “Wrecking Ball” about her feelings and pain she withholds. During most of her concerts, she shows a deeper side, by crying while performing this song.

Pjevach says, “While Miley performed, ‘Wrecking Ball’ it was so cool to see her show a different side of her. It was awesome be jumping around with her and laughing then seeing that she does have emotion and feel pain. It showed that even with money and fame, she is experiencing the same problems we do.”
