Students Tired of Frigid Temperatures

Arrowhead High School was canceled on Monday, January 27th and on Tuesday, January 28th due to Extreme cold.  This is not the first time school has been canceled because of freezing temperatures this school year; during the week after winter break Monday and Tuesday were cancelled as well.

With four cold days already this year, this makes some students concerned that we will have to make up these days at the end of the school year.

Alyssa Amann, a junior at Arrowhead says, “At first, I was happy because I got to sleep in, but then I thought about how school will have to go two days longer in the summer. So I would rather have the days off in June then in the middle of winter.”

Megan Orlandini, a senior at Mukwonago High school, says, “I was so excited when I heard we had the day off on Tuesday. This gave me time to go visit my sister in West Bend.”

Wisconsin is known to have one of the longest winters. Some Wisconsinites love the blustery snow and others dread the freezing winters.

For most of the month of January, there have been constant freezing temperatures have  Wisconsinites bored and stuck inside.

Amann says, “I usually like winter up until Christmas. Then after Christmas, I got really sick of it. The snow and the cold weather got really annoying after a while.”

With summer about five months away, there are still many cold months ahead.

Amann says, “I miss the warm weather of course, and be able to wear summer clothes and not having to wear huge sweaters and coats all the time. Also there is more to do during summer like Summerfest and concerts and spending time outside in the warm weather.”

Orlandini says, “I miss the warm weather. There is way more to do when there is warm weather and I miss being able to do things outside instead of being stuck indoors because of the freezing temperatures.”
