Zac Efron Stars in Newest Romantic Comedy

Thirty two movies. Sixteen awards. And one actor.   Since his premier in High School Musical in 2006, Zac Efron has become a household name.  Efron is most well known for his roles in 17 Again, Hairspray, and Charlie St. Cloud…but as of January 31, 2014, he will have another movie to add to that list: That Awkward Moment.

That Awkward Moment, written and directed by Tom Gormican, is a romantic comedy featuring three best guy friends who vowed to stay single as long as possible.  These characters are played by Michael B. Jordan, Miles Teller, and, of course, Zac Efron.

As Jordan, Teller, and Efron struggle to keep their promises to one another, they attempt to decode the obstacles and steps needed in modern relationships.

In addition to the “bromance” present in the movie, the other main theme is the guys’ ambitions to make it big in New York City.

According to Hollywood Reporter.com, “Gormican, DP Brandon Trost, and production designer Ethan Tobman use the New York locations, from trendy Lower Manhattan to upper-crust Gramercy Park, to emphasize the sense of energy and possibility.”

What separates this romantic comedy from the countless others is the angle taken on Efron, Teller, and Jordan’s dating problems.  While most movies in this genre use the vantage point of women, That Awkward Moment creates a memorable plot by flipping the point of views towards the males.

Locally, this movie can be viewed at Marcus Hillside Cinema in Delafield or Marcus Majestic Cinema in Brookfield.
