Most people are aware that Valentine’s Day is February 14, but not many know how to get a Valentine. So, with the kindness in our hearts, the Arrowhead newspaper would like to give some tips and tricks in order for you to step up your game this year.
Getting a Valentine is not as easy as some may think. A valentine is not just an object or a thing, but more of a connection you get with someone. And although everyone values connections, many people do not connect the same way you do. For example, you might not care for Snapchat because it is too fake or too forced, so you choose not to use it. It might be hard connecting with someone who loves Snapchat, who loves posting themselves, especially if that’s something you don’t share the same value with.
Know your values and know what is important to you. However, it is still not easy after that. Finding people who share your values is the tricky part. But just because it is tricky does not mean it should be rushed. “Experts argue that “Character” and “Values” are the only foundation for a long-term connection, and these traits are “slow-release” qualities. You cannot see someone’s true values in a week; you see them when they are under pressure” Robert Johansen said in The Myth of Compatibility.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to go outside your comfort zone and talk to people who may have never heard of you before. A new semester is a chance to show people the authentic you, and you would be surprised by how likable you are, just by being yourself.
