The 2023-2024 school year is coming to an end and it’s time to say goodbye to seniors and welcome in the class of 2026.
Senior Hayley Indermuehle says, “I recommend joining a new club; it will help you with meeting new people. Don’t hold on too tight to your friends from middle school, branch out.”
There are seven middle schools that go into Arrowhead where freshmen will be coming from.
Eighth grader Gemma Rydzik says, “I’m excited to leave North Lake and meet new people but I’m scared of having a ton of homework.”
The other middle schools are Merton, Swallow, Lake Country, Richmond, Stone Bank North Shore, and North Shore.
Arrowhead Union High School offers many extra-curricular clubs from Art Clubs, Engineering Club, Foreign Languages, Chinese Club, French Club, German Club, and Spanish Club.
One club is The Arrowhead, which is both a student newspaper and also a class. You can find the online newspaper here, The Arrowhead. Any student interested in writing for the paper may join the journalism class or submit articles to English teacher Elizabeth Jorgensen, the newspaper advisor, by email at [email protected].
Being on the journalism staff will help students learn to write better, meet deadlines and creatively layout and design a publication. Many former staff members have become paid newspaper reporters and editors.
Senior Maggie Walloch says, “High school has many good and bad times. Do not let the little things bother you. Learn to forget about setbacks and mistakes and instead think about what you can learn from them.”
If things do get tough students can go to their guidance counselor. The guidance counselors at South Campus are Molly Sroka, Thomas Stuber, and Barbra Whyte. Students with last names A-G have Stuber as a counselor; students with last names H-O have Whyte as a counselor; and students with last names P-Z have Sroka as a counselor. To make an appointment with a counselor students can either email them or scan the QR code on their door.
