Milwaukee Bucks 2016-2017 Season Underway

The 2016-2017 NBA season began October 26th for the Milwaukee Bucks. They will end up playing 82 games in the next six months. At almost the halfway point in the season, they will try to get to the NBA playoffs for the first time in three years.

The Milwaukee Bucks organization submitted plans for a new stadium to be looked at by the city for approval on March 17th, 2017, according to the Bucks Arena page. The Bucks are looking to transform a 30 acre lot into a brand new sports arena used by multiple Milwaukee teams in pro and collegiate.

Bucks President Peter Feigin gave an update on the new stadium.

“We’re just months away from seeing the new home of the Milwaukee Bucks and our collective efforts to revitalize Milwaukee begin to move from vision to reality,” said Feigin from the Bucks official website. “These plans reflect the commitment of our ownership, generosity of Senator Kohl and historic collaboration with public officials to build a world-class sports and entertainment destination in the heart of downtown Milwaukee.”

The Bucks have been led by 5-tool player Giannis Antetokounmpo this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the main player to watch on the team this season. It has been key to watch his growth and how he’s developed and progress his game. He’s become become the guy and franchise player for the Bucks. He is the leader of the team of and off the court.

Jabari Parker was the number two pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and he was considered to be the man to help push Milwaukee over to a great team again. He is a great young player but got injured in 2015 and played late in the season. Although he hasn’t turned out to be what people expected him to be, he was injured. But he is starting to transition into a complementary player to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker will get better in the near future.

Making the NBA playoffs is every team’s goal. If the Bucks want to make the playoffs, they have to get production out of tier stars and bench players. The Bucks are in a tough spot to make the playoffs they are in the Central division and have to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, and Chicago Bulls. The Eastern Conference though is up for grabs 8 out 15 teams make the playoffs the Bucks could be one of those teams in May of 2017.

Arrowhead senior Chris Marmes said, “I can see [the Bucks] making the playoffs. It will be tough, but they have the talent to get and eight seed possibly. “

The year has been full of ups and downs for the Bucks. Currently with a 19-18 record, they are 7th in the Eastern Conference. They have beaten some of the best teams in the NBA, including San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the NBA Champions Cleveland Cavaliers.

Their two stars, Parker and Antetokounmpo, are looking to reach their first All-Star games. However, the Milwaukee Bucks are in prime position to make the playoffs for the first time in three years, and possible make a deep run in this years playoffs.
