American Airlines Boeing 767 Blows Up on Runway
According to http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/28/us/ohare-aircraft-incident/, on Friday the 28th, American Airlines flight 383 had to abort take off from Chicago’s O’hare International Airport after the Boeing 767 blew a tire which damaged an engine.
The 161 passengers and nine crew members deplaned on a blow up chute onto the runway. All passengers were bused back to the terminal. Seven passengers and one flight attendant reported minor injuries and were transported to the hospital to be evaluated.
The Chicago Fire Department responded to Flight 383 on fire at the airport at approximately 2:35 p.m. local time. The engine failure sent debris from the engine spewing across the south side of the expansive airfield. Part of the engine’s fan disc were found a half mile away on a building used by UPS. The plane’s engine was engulfed in smoke and fire. The airplane’s fuselage (Body) actually melted from the fire from the wing.
