Super Bowl 50 was held in Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, California on Sunday, February 7th, according to ESPN.com. The competition was between the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers. The Broncos won the game 24-10.

The MVP is a coveted award, and it went to Von Miller a linebacker for the Broncos. According to CBS Sports, there have only been six other defensive players who have won the MVP Award. CBS Sports reported that some fans thought that Peyton Manning, the Broncos quarterback, should have won, especially because he is rumored to retire this year.

ABC reported that Lady Gaga sang the national anthem. The halftime show featured Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars. The halftime show also had a homage to past halftime performers by showing clips of them in their glory days.

Arrowhead senior Isabel Case said, “Before the game they had a ceremony with every single MVP winner from all 50 Super Bowls. It was so sweet and I got emotional when the older ones looked so thankful to be there.”

Arrowhead 2013 graduate Ryan Anderson said, “The game was kind of boring. I expected more excitement. The Denver defense destroyed the Panthers offense and Cam Newton. It would have been more fun if the Packers had made it to the Super Bowl this year.”

According to nfl.com, some of the top commercials were the Doritos ultrasound, the Prius commercial, and Heinz weiner stampede.

Diya Ramanathan, a senior at Arrowhead said, “I don’t really follow football, but I watched the Super Bowl because I wanted to see the commercials and performances. I thought the halftime show was disappointing, but Lady Gaga did an amazing job with the National Anthem.”

According to sfbay superbowl.com, “It’s been our goal from the beginning to redefine the Super Bowl, and I believe we’ve done just that,” said Keith Bruce, CEO of the Host Committee. “From the fan experience to use of technology to our unprecedented philanthropic focus, our region has redefined what it means to host a Super Bowl and set the tone for the Big Game’s next 50 years.”

Over 200,000 fans joined the city for opening weekend festivities. Closing weekend rung in over 300,00 people. There were free concerts from Onerepublic and Alicia Keys on the Levi’s stage.

According to superbowl.com, committees wanted to make Super Bowl 50 more than just about the game. They wanted it to be a celebration for everyone to enjoy, unlike anything they’ve done before.

CBS.com stated over 167 million viewers tuned in to watch this year’s Super Bowl–the most watched single broadcast in television history. Various streaming options also attracted more than three million additional viewers–viewing from phones, laptops, and tablets.
