On Friday, October 9th, 2015, will be the Arrowhead Varsity Football Seniors’ last conference home game. There are 40 seniors on the varsity football team and, October 9th, 2015 will also be senior night. The game is against the Waukesha South Blackshirts at the Arrowhead Taraska Stadium at 7 pm.

Seniors starters for the offensive line will be Ben Bredeson, Mike Olson, Nels Anderson, Johnny Duranso, Nick Bastien, Tyler Jones, and Justin Peret.

The starters for the defensive line will be Antonio Ramos, John Mack, Teddy Orlando, Eric Wohlfeil, and Michael Burghs.

At senior night, seniors will stand on the field facing the home stands with their mothers. The announcers will read off each senior player’s name while the player gives their mother a flower.

Senior Anthony Kauer, who is part of the defensive line, says,  “It is kind of sad. The season flew by really fast and it is sad to see it come to an end.”

Bredeson says, “It is sad to leave but, we have had a good run, and it will be a good game on Friday.”

Senior Dylan Wohlfeil, a linebacker, says, “I’m for sure sad, but we will still possibly some home games in the playoffs, but it is the last one that will for sure be here at Arrowhead.”

Steve Melzer, a marketing teacher at Arrowhead, says, “Tomorrow will be a nice supportive game, it will a bitter sweet game, but I know the players will be anxious about playoffs–knowing this is their last regular home season game is sad.”

Arrowhead Gator Abbey Weisrock says, “I think this game is going to be awesome.”

Gators are junior and seniors that dress up in a theme each week for the football games and create the cheers for the student section.

“I am super pumped for this game because we are not only honoring the seniors, but we are also supporting breast cancer and leukemia by wearing pink and orange,” says Johnny Zanotti, who is also an Arrowhead Gator.

The Gators made a post in the school store stating they would like AHS students to support cancer research at this game by wearing orange and pink.

Students, community members, faculty and fans  have an opportunity to watch the football team try to make it to state this year. The playoff games start on October 23rd, 2015.

In the past, the Arrowhead football team has won state championships in 1993,1994,1996, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 1993, 1994, 1996, 2007, 2012, and 2013.

Last year, Arrowhead lost to Kimberly in the championship game and was the  state runner up.

If they make it to state this year, the game will be on November 20th at 4:05pm at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.
