Halloween Madness Extravaganza

Halloween is an American tradition that has lasted over 2,000 years. Each country has a different way of celebrating this holiday, but all agree that it is a day when the boundary between the world of the living and dead is weakened for one night. This week,Arrowhead students anticipate Halloween, and are looking forward to the treats, costumes, and the parties.

 

According to arrowhead students top 10 halloween candies are Candy Corn, the original skittles, Butterfinger, Strawberry Twizzlers, Reese’s Pieces, M&M’s, Life Savers, Tootsie Rolls, Nerds, and Milky Way.

 

Ben Mihojevich, a senior at Arrowhead says his favorite Halloween treat is Twix.

Johnson’s favorite candy to get while trick or treating is Reeses Pieces.

 

“Twix has the best mixture of camel, chocolate, and crunchy ness. I’ve probably eaten six Twix candy bars in a row,” say Mihojevich.

 

As for costumes senior Florian likes anything scary, and senior Michael Johnson wants to be Freddy Krugger because he’s scary, and is a good horror movie character. Senior Catlin Engelbert says her favorite costume has been Cleopatra.

 

Senior exchange student Lola Gracia says she is especially looking forward to experiencing the American way of celebrating Halloween. She says she craved her first pumpkin last Friday, and has decided she is going to be el Diablo (the devil) for trick or Treat.

 

“I’ve always liked Harry Potter costumes, but my favorite character I dressed up as was Cleopatra. I dressed up as Cleopatra twice, in seventh and tenth grade. I also have dressed as a vampire three times,” Says Engelbert.

 

Arrowhead senior Michael Johnson’s favorite Halloween memory took place last year when he dressed up as a fairy princess. His outfit with complete with a pink unitard and a black thong.

 

 

For some students scary movies are the cherry on top of the Halloween cake.

 

Johnson’s favorite scary movie is As Above, So Below. This movies takes place in the catacombs of Paris. A group of explorers search of lost treasure.

 

“I remember my freshmen year I was at a sleepover and the movie was so scary I hid under my sleeping bag the whole time. If I do watch a scary movie, someone has to be their with me because otherwise I feel like someone will come out of the TV,” says Englebert

 

Arrowhead students have a variety of fears such as snakes, crazy girls, and communism.

 

Engelbert says she used to trick or treat until freshman year, and now she likes going to Halloween parties and giving out candy to trick or treaters

 

“I remember one girl trick or treating had the cutest cat outfit ever. Her costume was complete with whiskers, a tale, and little cat ears. She was so cute” says Englebert.photo (6)
