Summerfest Coming Soon to Milwaukee
Summerfest is an 11-day music festival held at Milwaukee’s lakefront from June 25 to July 6. Summerfest is known for it’s live music, food, beer, and shopping.
The complete 2014 Summerfest lineup is being announced on the Summerfest website on March 26, 2014. Some of the acts already announced are Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Outkast, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, and The Dave Matthew’s Band.
Rachel Thorn, a junior at Arrowhead High School, says this year she is looking forward to seeing The Dave Matthew’s Band and possibly going to Bruno Mars, depending on the cost.
Kenzie Huckstorf, a junior at Arrowhead High School says, “I’d be really fun to see Lady Gaga this year just because she always seems to put on a good show.”
Huckstorf says her parents are buying her sisters tickets to see Bruno Mars for her birthday so she might tag along because her parents are buying the tickets.
Past performances at Summerfest have included Lady Antebellum, MGMT, Imagine Dragons, and Wiz Khalifa.
Thorn says in the past she has seen Diplo, Lady Antebellum, Pitbull, Imagine Dragons and Hunter Hayes.
“When I saw Hunter Hayes, it was really fun because I was right up front and there was not a lot of people there, so it was a really good concert,” says Thorn.
Thorn says when she saw Pitbull, it was a good experience because he got the crowd involved with the whole performance.
“I don’t go to Summerfest real often from year to year, but I went to see Imagine Dragons last year, I had a horrible experience,” says Huckstorf. “The crowd was too big and I couldn’t see them at all.”
Each year, Summerfest books what acts to book for the festival depending on the artists that are high on the charts. In 2013, Imagine Dragons, an American alternative rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, took one of the headlined stages at Summerfest. Predictions each year are made on what artist may perform at the venue.
“I’m hoping that Lorde comes to Summerfest this year just because she’s a new artist and I have really liked all her music that plays on the radio,” says Thorn.
Thorn says that she saw Coldplay play a few years back and, she also wishes to see them appear at Summerfest again soon.
“A band that I’ve really started to like is The Arctic Monkeys,” says Huckstorf. “If they came, I would definitely go see them.”
