Starting February 4, each Wednesday homeroom will be extended, going from 7:20 to 8:20 so freshmen, sophomores and juniors can practice for the ACT and PreACT in March. Seniors will be excused from homeroom and must arrive by 8:28 for their first block class.
In order to prepare for the ACT, each homeroom throughout February will focus on a different section of the test using the ACT Practice Assessment in Mastery Prep. February 4 will focus on the reading section, February 11 on the english section, February 18 on the math section, and February 25 on the science section. Apart from working on practice assessments, students will also be given instructions on additional ways to prepare.
Students must have a charged device ready for homeroom every Wednesday in February. In homeroom on March 11 juniors will be creating a My ACT account in order to prepare for the state-required ACT on March 17. On March 17, freshman and sophomores will be taking the state-required PreACT.
The results of the ACT are crucial as they are used for future course selection, college admissions, scholarship opportunities, school accountability report cards and ultimately deciding on school academic support. It is recommended that students take ACT prep seriously in order to yield the highest possible score. Good luck!
