AHS Teams Play Hoops Saturday at the Al
The athletic departments from Arrowhead High School and Germantown High School are hosting the Al Classic Basketball Invitational tournament for the second consecutive year. The tournament takes place at the Al McGuire center where the Marquette boys team practices and the Marquette girl’s team plays their games. Both the boys and girls Arrowhead varsity basketball teams will be playing in the tournament on Saturday, December 17th. The tournament consists of each team just playing one game each.
The girls play the second game of the tournament against Germantown High School at 12:15 pm. The Arrowhead varsity boy’s team plays at 2:00 pm against Brookfield Central.
The Arrowhead varsity girl’s basketball team has a current record of 5-1, their one loss being against Mukwonago High School. The Germantown girl’s varsity basketball team has a current record of 5-0.
Lauren Peterson, a senior and captain of the Arrowhead girl’s varsity basketball team, said, “Last year we lost against Germantwon because we just weren’t prepared for their way of play.”
Peterson also said, “This year it will be different. We know their offense and the way they play.”
The Arrowhead varsity boy’s basketball team currently has a record of 3-3, losing to Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Mukwonago High School and Waukesha West High School. The Brookfield Central varsity boy’s basketball team has a current record of 5-0.
Ricky Finco, a senior captain on the Arrowhead boys varsity basketball team, said, “I think we will be fine against Brookfield Central as long as we play together and don’t give them any second opportunities.”
Finco also said, “I look forward to playing at the Al because it is a really cool atmosphere to play at. And the court is really nice.”
Peterson said, “I am a little nervous. Germantown has a 5-0 record so it will be a very good game.”
Both Finco and Peterson said playing at the Al is an experience they will never forget. They say they forward to it every year because it is kind of like a college experience.
